A teacher who lost her job over her rap videos has responded by recording a song with her former students.
Domonique Brown, known as “Drippin Honey,” was reportedly dismissed from her role as a history teacher in Detroit after a parent complained about her music career.
In response, she created a new song, Drippin 101, featuring many of her former students.
Brown explained the situation on Instagram.
“Recently, I was forced to leave my position due to me being a rapper,” she wrote. “A single parent’s disapproval led to my dismissal.”
She added, “The parent remained anonymous after contacting my job for months. Since I released Drippin 101, I’ve been in meetings defending my music career. Five months later, I was asked to remove all my content. That’s when I knew I had to bet on myself because no one else will.”
Brown also shared her frustration over how the decision affected her students.
“What troubles me most is the lack of consideration for the impact I’ve had on my students,” she said.

“My personal life should not be a reason for termination when it doesn’t affect my ability to do my job. My dedication and passion for teaching have always been strong, no matter what I do outside of work.”
Along with posting a clip of her new music video, Brown criticized the school’s decision, saying she was judged unfairly.
“When I was hired, my music career wasn’t a problem,” she wrote.
“I was chosen based on my skills, experience, and the positive influence I could have on students. Now, my contributions seem to be ignored because of personal judgments.”
Supporters commented on Brown’s post, encouraging her to keep going.

One person wrote, “Don’t quit! Be a teacher rapper.”
Another added, “Her students clearly love her. We finally get a teacher who understands and cares, and they fire her?”
A third commented, “What someone does off the clock isn’t their employer’s concern.”
Brown, who had been teaching for seven years, also shared that over 200 parents and students signed a petition asking for her reinstatement.
