Mom stepped on ant hill and died instantly

Hearing about someone’s passing is always difficult, especially when they leave behind a young family. Cathy Weed’s sudden death was both shocking and heartbreaking for her loved ones.

It was just a regular day for Cathy and her family in Gwinnett County. But then, something tragic happened. She stepped on an ant hill at her home in Lawrenceville and died immediately.

Cathy was a dedicated mother to her 15-year-old son, Gray, who was a sophomore and played baseball for the Mountain View High School Bears. She was always in the stands, cheering him on.

After her passing, the Mountain View community gathered on the baseball field to honor her memory. She was deeply valued in the community, and her sudden loss has left many heartbroken.

The cause of her death was a severe allergic reaction to fire ants. Cathy had a life-threatening allergy, and when she was bitten, the reaction was so intense that she didn’t have time to reach her medication.

This wasn’t the first time she had an allergic reaction to fire ants. Back in 2018, Cathy had a similar experience that sent her to the emergency room. After that, she spoke about the importance of keeping EpiPens available and warned about the nationwide shortage at the time.

She stressed how having an unexpired EpiPen could be the difference between life and death. Sadly, years later, the same allergy took her life.

To help support her family, the community has set up a donation portal where people can contribute financially or by providing meals.

In this difficult time, Gray has received an outpouring of love and support from his community and baseball teammates.

Cathy’s obituary describes her as someone who left a lasting impact on everyone she met. It says she had a warm smile, a kind heart, and was full of compassion.

Her son’s coach, Jason Johnson, spoke about the special bond between Cathy and Gray. He shared, “His mom was everything to him, and he was just as important to her.”

Losing someone so suddenly is truly devastating. Keeping her family in your thoughts and sharing her story helps honor her memory.
