It’s not every day you get to play someone famous.
So it makes sense that eight-year-old Alyvia Alyn Lind learned a few things while stepping into 69-year-old Dolly Parton’s shoes for the movie Coat of Many Colors.

And she was happy to share what she picked up from the experience. The young actress told People, “I learned from Dolly to never give up on a dream. She started with just love, and now she’s accomplished so much. I realized that with love, anything is possible.”
Even with a big age gap between them, Alyvia’s favorite part of the role was spending time with Dolly. She also shared a sweet moment from her audition when the country star told her, “I loved your little eyes.”

Alyvia, who loves the movie Nine to Five, said, “The best part about playing Dolly Parton is playing Dolly Parton! Everyone knows who she is. She’s a legend.”
Getting a big role like this was a huge moment for her.
So it’s no surprise that the excited Young and the Restless star, who has played Faith Newman since 2011, had a big reaction when she found out she landed the part.

In a funny video shared earlier this year, Dolly herself gave Alyvia the news in a surprise moment on NBC’s Today Show. The young actress was so excited that she started biting her hand in disbelief.
The movie is just one of several that will tell the story of Dolly’s early life.
Coat of Many Colors is set to premiere on NBC on December 10.
