A DECISION THAT SPARKED SUPPORT
A woman’s choice not to give up her first-class seat while traveling with a toddler has earned her a lot of praise on social media. Dr. Sabra, a TikTok user known as @lifewithdrsabra, shared her story in a viral video, explaining how she was asked to switch seats during a flight.
THE REQUEST TO MOVE
Dr. Sabra was sitting in seat 1A, a prime first-class spot at the front of the plane, when a flight agent approached her. The agent asked if she would switch seats so a child could sit with their family. In her video, Dr. Sabra shared her reaction, saying, “POV: Flight agent asks me if I want to give up my 1A seat so a child sits with their family.” She made it clear that she wasn’t willing to give up the seat she had paid for.
THE RESPONSE FROM DR. SABRA
She included a popular TikTok audio clip in her video that says, “Girl, f*** them kids and f*** you too,” a phrase often used when someone refuses to make sacrifices for others’ children. Dr. Sabra was clear in the video’s caption that she chose to keep her seat and that the family was able to find another solution. She also clarified that the child in question was 13 years old, not a toddler as some may have assumed.
SUPPORT FROM VIEWERS
The video went viral, racking up 4.9 million views. Many viewers sided with Dr. Sabra, saying the parents should have planned better. Comments ranged from, “They should have swapped seats with one of the parents” to “Unless they upgrade me, I’m not moving.” Some speculated that families might even try to get others to swap seats by buying cheaper tickets.
CLARIFICATION
Later, Dr. Sabra explained that it was the airline’s mistake, not the family’s request, that caused the seating issue. She said the family never directly asked her to move, and the airline was the one that asked.
What do you think about her decision? Should she have given up her seat?
