Christie and Wesley Werts have been together for five years, blending their families when they got married. Christie had a daughter, Megan, while Wesley had two children, Austin and Dakota.
They didn’t expect that their family would grow in an unexpected way when they welcomed baby Levi through adoption.

The adoption process took 16 months, but the couple was determined to bring Levi home. They had no idea that his story would be so deeply connected to their own.
Levi was born in Texas in August 2021. His biological mother, Wesley’s ex-partner, struggled with drug use during pregnancy. Sadly, she passed away four days after Levi’s birth due to health complications. Wesley found out about Levi when his ex’s sister gave him the news.

When Christie learned about Levi, she immediately wanted to adopt him. Having spent time in foster care herself, she knew how important a loving and stable home would be for him.
But there was something else that convinced her. Before she even knew about Levi, Christie had been having dreams of a blue-eyed, blond baby for three months. When she saw Levi for the first time, she said, “I immediately fell in love. It was like my dream.”

The couple traveled from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protection Services. The adoption process wasn’t easy. They had to sell their house and relocate for court proceedings. It also involved the termination of Levi’s biological father’s rights.
After months of home inspections, interviews, and legal steps, the adoption was finalized. Christie and Wesley were finally able to bring Levi home and officially welcome him into their family.

Despite the emotional journey, Christie faced criticism online for sharing Levi’s story. Some people felt it was too personal to post. “He’s gonna see this when he grows up and it will make him sad,” one person commented.
Others, however, supported the couple and wished them happiness with their new family member.
