Former President Donald Trump has announced that Joe Biden will no longer have access to classified information. The decision was made public through a post on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
“We are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s security clearances and stopping his daily intelligence briefings,” Trump wrote. He then added a phrase from his former reality TV show, saying in all caps: “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED.”
Presidents Usually Keep Security Access
Traditionally, former U.S. presidents are allowed to receive intelligence briefings even after leaving office. This practice helps ensure that past leaders stay informed on key issues. However, Trump decided to remove Biden’s access, claiming there was no reason for him to continue receiving classified updates.
Trump said the move was justified because Biden had revoked his clearance after winning the 2020 election. At the time, Biden cited concerns about Trump’s behavior, especially after the events of January 6, 2021, when protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Citing Biden’s “Memory Issues”
In his statement, Trump argued that Biden could not be trusted with intelligence briefings. He referred to a special counsel report that found classified documents at Biden’s home. The report also noted that Biden, 82, had “poor memory,” a detail that Trump used to justify his decision.

Trump’s Own Classified Documents Case
Interestingly, Trump himself was previously investigated for mishandling classified documents. However, after he won the 2024 election, the Justice Department decided to drop the case.
Trump’s move to revoke Biden’s clearance is unusual, as former presidents typically retain access to intelligence briefings. However, with both leaders having accused each other of security concerns, this decision highlights the ongoing political tension between them.
