Homeless dogs face difficult lives, struggling to survive on the streets without anyone to care for them or protect them. Often, they end up in dangerous situations, with no one around to help. That was the case for Winston, a dog who was starving and alone, facing what could have been the end of his life.
Luckily, fate had a different plan when a kind person arrived to save him.
Wesley White, a photographer from the U.S., was visiting Belize on a work trip. He was enjoying the beautiful beaches and stunning landscapes, capturing the scenery on his camera. One day, he decided to kayak to a small, remote island, not knowing what he was about to find.
Wesley was looking for a quiet spot to fish when he came across an emaciated puppy lying near a fishing shack. The dog looked like he was close to death, but when Wesley noticed his tail wagging, he knew he had to help.
Wesley quickly wrapped the puppy in his swimming trunks and paddled back to the mainland, knowing that he only had a few days left in Belize. He was worried about whether he could save the dog in time.
Once back at the hotel, the staff helped by feeding the dog and contacting a local vet. It turned out that Winston had mites, was very underweight, and was severely dehydrated, but his organs were still healthy.
Wesley spent his last two days in Belize with Winston. When it was time for him to leave, he was heartbroken. He set up a GoFundMe to help with Winston’s medical costs, and soon, arrangements were made for Winston to fly to the U.S. and live with Wesley.
A month later, after a long wait, Wesley and Winston were finally reunited in Dallas. Wesley was nervous, but Winston immediately recognized him and ran over to lick his face. Despite the change in climate, Winston was happy in his new home with Wesley and his two other dogs.
What a joyful ending for Winston’s journey!
