Emma Louise Jones is a popular personality on both BBC Sport and Premier Sports. She recently shared a funny story from her early days in local radio that made her fans laugh.
Emma, who is known for her work on BBC and Premier Sports, began her broadcasting career in radio. She hosted morning shows for Viking FM in Hull and Signal 1 in Stoke until 2019.
While working at Signal 1, Emma teamed up with John ‘Foxy’ Fox, a fellow BBC presenter. Foxy currently has a show on BBC Radio West Midlands and hosts a podcast called Crunch & Roll. Recently, he invited Emma onto his podcast to look back at their time together in Stoke.
During the podcast, Foxy shared memories of their “live from your drive” segment, where they would broadcast from a different driveway each day. One morning, Emma was late, but a car horn blaring at 6:15 AM gave her away.
Foxy remembered: “Then, suddenly, Emma bursts into the motorhome in her Mr. Motivator outfit, saying, ‘Sorry I’m late, traffic was crazy.'”
When everyone asked if the horn was her, Emma explained it was an accident. Her chest would accidentally hit the car horn when she got out of her car.
She joked: “I drive my little BMW 1 Series and sometimes kiss the steering wheel. So, when I got out, I would knock the horn with my chest.”
Emma admitted it scared her, adding: “It used to scare the heck out of me!”
As Foxy added, every morning they’d hear a horn honk, and they knew it was Emma arriving.
Recently, Emma faced some misogynistic comments on social media after posting a photo in a dress on a rugby field. She had captioned it: “Bets on how long this dress stays this color…”
Emma responded to the critics, thanking those who supported her against the negative comments. “Thank you to the majority of you who called out the few haters,” she said. “I felt lovely in my dress, so I wanted to share it.”
