Shocking moment woman is mauled by pit bull on Dominican Republic beach

A chilling video captured the moment a woman was attacked by a pit bull on a beach in the Dominican Republic.

Luisa Encarnación, 53, was seen being bitten by the dog on Palenque Beach in Sabana Grande de Palenque, a city in the south of the country, on Sunday.

The terrifying scene
As the dog attacked, bystanders tried to help by hitting the animal with a stick. Others kept their distance, wondering where the dog’s owner was. The video showed the dog pulling the woman by her hair while she struggled to escape.

A brave rescue
Finally, a man rushed to her aid and managed to pull the dog away. He punched the dog three times to stop the attack, while another person helped Encarnación.

Aftermath of the attack
Encarnación was quickly taken to a medical facility, where she underwent emergency surgery. She suffered injuries to her head, neck, and face but survived the attack.

The National Police launched an investigation to find the dog’s owner, who could be held responsible for the attack. In response, the mayor of Sabana Grande de Palenque, Miguel Valera, held a meeting with local authorities and banned dogs from the beach.

Residents voiced their concerns on social media, calling for stricter laws to protect people from future attacks. One person suggested that dog owners whose animals bite someone should face prison time and be required to pay for the victim’s psychological recovery.

Others pointed out that large breed dogs are often let loose by their owners in parks. Some people felt that pit bulls should not be allowed in public spaces due to the danger they can pose.

One local resident urged lawmakers to create better regulations for pit bull owners. They said, “Owners walk around with these dogs like they’re an accessory, not realizing the threat they pose.”
