Retired actress, 95, who appeared in The Ten Commandments and Blues Brothers killed in Los Angeles fire

A retired actress, Dalyce Curry, has been found dead in her Los Angeles home after it was destroyed by the ongoing wildfires. The 95-year-old died when the Eaton Fire spread through her property in Altadena, just north of LA. Her family confirmed her death through social media.

Curry, who was known as “Momma D” to her family, had a brief acting career. She appeared as an extra in well-known films like The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues.

Her great-grandmother’s caregiver, Kelley, last saw Curry when she dropped her off at the home late Tuesday night after a hospital visit. Kelley had to leave to care for other relatives, unaware that the Eaton Fire had just begun. The fire quickly escalated, devastating the area.

Kelley later received a text about a power outage at Curry’s home. When she returned to check, she was stopped by police, who told her the house had “totally burned down”. They advised her to check the Pasadena Civic Center, where evacuees were being relocated.

The next few days were filled with uncertainty and worry for Curry’s family. Kelley was escorted by the National Guard to the site on Friday, where she described the scene as “total devastation”. Everything was gone, except for Curry’s blue Cadillac.

As the death toll rises to 24, more than 150,000 people have been evacuated, and at least 16 people remain missing. Four fires have consumed more than 62 square miles in LA, affecting many wealthy neighborhoods and causing severe damage.

Authorities have warned of life-threatening winds and dry conditions in Southern California, which could cause more fires to spread rapidly. The Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire have burned through 59 square miles, with nearly 70,000 homes without power.

Two people have been arrested for arson, including Ruben Montes, 29, and Juan Manuel Sierra-Leyva, who was caught on video using a blowtorch.
