Princess Kate of Whales breaks down in tears after confirming her remission from cancer while visiting hospital she was treated

The Princess of Wales has shared her relief at being in remission from cancer and her hope for a positive year ahead. In a heartfelt message, signed ‘C’, Catherine expressed gratitude to the Royal Marsden Hospital for their exceptional care during her treatment.

“I want to thank the Royal Marsden for looking after me so well over the past year,” her post read. “William and I couldn’t have asked for more. The care we’ve received has been outstanding.”

Catherine, now Joint Patron of the Royal Marsden, hopes to support research and patient care. “It’s a relief to be in remission,” she said. “Recovery takes time, but I’m looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. Thank you for your continued support.”

Although she is in remission, doctors and the Princess avoid using the word “cured,” as some cancers can return. The term remission means no signs of cancer after treatment.

In her first solo engagement in over a year, Catherine visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, thanking staff and showing support for other patients. She spoke about the challenges of her treatment, saying, “It’s really tough,” as she empathized with a patient undergoing chemotherapy. She shared advice she had received, emphasizing the importance of a positive mindset and staying warm due to side effects.

During her visit, Catherine met patients and asked about their treatments and wellbeing, offering words of encouragement. She reflected on the importance of self-care during recovery, noting, “You need plenty of water and sunlight.”

As she left, the Princess made time to speak with patients and staff, offering comfort and hope. She said, “There is light at the end of the tunnel. You’re in the best hands.”

Catherine’s visit marks the start of her role as Joint Patron of the Royal Marsden, alongside Prince William. The hospital, a leading cancer center, plays a crucial role in advancing treatment and care.

In a statement, the hospital expressed gratitude for the royal patronage, which inspires both staff and patients. Catherine looks forward to supporting the hospital’s groundbreaking work and improving the lives of those affected by cancer.
