Barron Trump has become the center of attention at New York University after a student leader lost her position over comments about him.
Kaya Walker, the former president of NYU’s College Republicans chapter, resigned following backlash from her own party members. Her remarks about Barron Trump in an interview with Vanity Fair sparked criticism, leading to pressure for her to step down.

During the interview, Walker described Barron as “sort of like an oddity on campus” and added, “He goes to class, he goes home.” Many Republicans felt her words were inappropriate. The College Republicans of America (CRA) responded by stating that, while her remarks had been “unfairly framed,” they still did not align with the organization’s values.
To ease tensions, CRA President Will Donahue publicly invited Barron to join the organization. He praised him for showing “resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above hostility.” He further stated, “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join us.”

This invitation comes at a time when the CRA has made bold moves, including officially endorsing Donald Trump for president. The organization has also focused on mobilizing student support for his campaign, securing over a million voter commitments. They reinforced their stance, saying, “Our support for President Trump is, and has been, a pillar of our organization.”
Meanwhile, Barron Trump has gained attention on campus since starting at NYU’s Stern School of Business. His mother, Melania Trump, has described him as “very vocal” and involved in his father’s campaign, even advising on Donald Trump’s podcast. However, some students see him differently, with one calling him a “ladies’ man.” Another student commented that, despite political differences, many find him “tall and handsome.”

Despite the attention, Barron reportedly keeps a low profile. He commutes from Trump Tower under Secret Service protection and does not engage much in school activities. A student once invited him to play basketball, but they got the impression that “he wasn’t really allowed to do stuff.”
Walker also expressed frustration over the excessive attention Barron receives, saying he should be able to experience college life in a more typical way.
