Mom Of Black And White Twins Often Gets Asked Which One Of The Boys Is Hers

A 31-year-old Nigerian woman had no idea what was ahead when she gave birth in February that year. Today, she can easily tell her twin sons apart. Even though Daniel and David were born just minutes apart, they look completely different.

Stacy and Babajide, who live in Lagos, were surprised to see their twins had no resemblance. David was born with white skin and golden hair, while Daniel had dark skin and black curly hair, just like their older sister, Demilade. The striking difference means they get a lot of attention wherever they go.

Stacy started sharing their moments on Instagram, and within a year, they had gained nearly 18,000 followers.

The twins’ birth on February 26 was a complete surprise.

“We had no idea they would look different. The scan didn’t show anything unusual. So when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) with golden hair, it was shocking,” Stacy shared. “I had a C-section, and the doctors were amazed. Nurses kept coming in to see them.”

Stacy’s husband was deeply moved when he saw his sons. “He was overwhelmed and immediately called David ‘Golden.’ He stood staring at them for over 10 minutes, saying they were his best gift ever.”

David has albinism, a rare condition that affects about 1 in 20,000 births. Albinism happens due to a lack of melanin, which affects skin, hair, and eye color. It can occur in any race and may lead to skin and vision problems. Fortunately, Stacy says David has no health issues.

Nigeria has one of the highest numbers of people with albinism, with over two million confirmed or suspected cases. However, many in this community still face challenges due to their appearance. Despite this, Stacy says both her sons are equally loved.

“There’s always curiosity when we go out. People want to know more about them. Maybe it’s because they are adorable, so people just want to say hello.”

Their unique looks have even caught the attention of modeling agencies in the UK. The family created an Instagram account to share their story and raise awareness.

“They are both playful but have different personalities. Daniel is expressive and loves food, while David is quieter and more selective. Daniel enjoys acting like the older brother. They both have lots of energy.”
