Childbirth is a natural process, but sometimes, unexpected complications arise. Sadly, doctors are not always able to prevent tragedies, as seen in the case of Kelli Tyler, a mother of five.
Kelli was excited to welcome her fifth child. She documented her pregnancy with photos and videos, showing how happy she was. Everything seemed normal throughout the nine months, and doctors never saw any signs of trouble.

However, on the day of her delivery, she experienced a rare and serious complication that led to her passing.
The complication happened when amniotic fluid entered her bloodstream, causing severe damage.
Her mother, Julie Roach, explained what happened: “Kelli was losing more blood than her body could take in. I think the last thing she said was, ‘I’m about to faint.’”
This condition is called amniotic fluid embolism. It can happen during childbirth or soon after.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, this condition is hard to diagnose because its symptoms are similar to other childbirth complications. Some women have a severe reaction when amniotic fluid mixes with their blood. It can cause heart failure, breathing problems, or organ failure.

Doctors tried to help Kelli, but she kept losing consciousness.
“She would wake up for a minute, and then her heart would stop again,” her mother said.
Meanwhile, Kelli’s baby, Jalie, was safely delivered. She will never meet her mother, but her family will make sure she knows about her through pictures and stories.
Doctors are unsure if Jalie’s traumatic birth will affect her health in the future.

To help with unexpected medical expenses, the family created a GoFundMe page. In just a week, they raised three times the amount they originally planned.
This is a heartbreaking loss for the family. We send our deepest condolences.
