Men Have Better Sex With Women Who Are Emotionally Unstable, Study Reveals

A recent study suggests that men have better sexual experiences when their partners are less emotionally stable, while women tend to prefer partners who are not too agreeable but are detail-oriented.

The study, conducted in Germany, surveyed 1,000 participants to examine how personality traits affect sexual satisfaction. While it is well known that compatibility in a relationship can improve intimacy, the role of personality in sexual experiences has not been widely studied before.

Julia Velten, the lead researcher, and her team interviewed participants about their sex lives, personalities, and different aspects of sexual function. For women, researchers looked at factors like sexual desire, satisfaction, arousal, and orgasm. For men, they studied erectile function, desire, satisfaction, and orgasm.

The results showed that men who had partners with lower emotional stability reported better sexual function. On the other hand, women in relationships with less agreeable partners had better sexual function.

Another interesting finding was that men who are careful and responsible may try harder to satisfy their partners, leading to improved sexual function for their partners.

The study, published in the Journal of Sex Research in 2019, also found that men reported higher satisfaction when their partners had similar levels of arousal. Researchers explained that men who get easily aroused by fantasies or visual cues may benefit from having a partner who reacts in the same way.

The average age of the participants was 51, and they had been in relationships for about 24 years. The study found that while age negatively affected men’s sexual function, relationship duration did not. This suggests that a healthy sex life is possible even in long-term relationships.

Dr. Christian Jarrett, a psychologist not involved in the study, said that while the findings are interesting, more research is needed to understand the cause-and-effect relationship. He added that the study provides new insights into how a partner’s personality may influence sexual function.
