Meghan Markle recently released a new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, but one particular moment caught people’s attention. Some viewers immediately noticed it and started discussing it online.
Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father, shared his disappointment in an interview with The Daily Mail. He spoke about Meghan choosing to drop her last name and how it would have upset her grandmother. He said his mother was proud of the Markle name, and so was he. He also claimed Meghan never had an issue with it until she married Prince Harry.

Thomas, who now lives in the Philippines, also commented on Meghan’s show. He admitted he hadn’t watched the full series but had seen clips. Based on what he watched, he felt she was not being authentic. Having worked in Hollywood himself, he shared that hosting requires genuine passion. He argued that cooking shows are boring unless the host truly enjoys the topic.
He also believed that Meghan was too focused on appearing perfect, making her seem unnatural. He claimed she carefully planned her words and actions rather than being spontaneous. He said he had watched her over the years and could tell when she was acting. He felt that good hosts are relaxed and unafraid to make mistakes, and he thought Meghan needed to loosen up.

Meghan and her father have been estranged since 2018. Thomas suffered two heart attacks before her wedding and said he still doesn’t understand why she cut him off. He believes it may be because he missed the ceremony.
His comments sparked mixed reactions. Some people criticized him for speaking to the media, saying this was why Meghan kept her distance. Others felt sorry for him, pointing out that he had never met his grandchildren. Some defended Meghan’s decision, saying changing a last name after marriage is common.

During her show, Meghan corrected Mindy Kaling for calling her Meghan Markle. She explained that sharing a last name with her children was meaningful to her. She previously mentioned that having a family name made her feel connected to her husband and kids.
