The idea of life after death is a topic people often discuss, but there is no scientific proof. Still, some believe in rebirth and karma—the idea that your actions in this life affect what happens in the next.
But just being alive is extremely rare. The odds of you existing are like rolling 2 million dice with a trillion sides each and getting the exact same number on all of them. It’s such an unbelievable number that mathematicians had to come up with a special equation just to explain it.
On the other hand, dying is completely normal. It happens to everyone, and there’s no avoiding it. Some people see rebirth as a way to escape the fear of death. Others like the idea that they might get another chance at life, no matter what they’ve done in this one.
Religions often describe the afterlife as heaven or hell—a place of eternal happiness or endless suffering. But no one knows for sure. However, some people claim to have experienced something beyond death.
One well-known book on the subject is Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife by Eben Alexander. It’s a personal account of what one person says he saw beyond life.
Stories of near-death experiences exist everywhere. One such case happened in Ohio. Brian Miller, a 41-year-old truck driver, felt sudden chest pain while working. He called 911, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital.
Doctors found his main artery was completely blocked. They cleared it, but soon after, his heart stopped.
An ICU nurse, Emily Bishop, confirmed that Brian had no pulse, no blood pressure, and no heartbeat. Doctors tried shocking his heart multiple times, but nothing worked.
Then, 45 minutes later, he suddenly came back to life.
Brian says that during those minutes, he saw a bright light and a beautiful path lined with flowers. He met his late stepmother, who told him, “It’s not your time. You have to go back.”
His pulse returned unexpectedly. Medical staff were shocked since his brain had been without oxygen for so long. Brian now strongly believes in the afterlife.
