Khloé Kardashian recently faced criticism after taking DNA tests to confirm her son Tatum’s paternity.
Tatum, born through a surrogate in July 2022, was introduced to the public in the third season of The Kardashians. Khloé and her ex-partner, Tristan Thompson, revealed him during the season’s first episode.
The controversy began when Khloé made a light-hearted comment about her brother, Rob Kardashian, being Tatum’s possible father. Fans didn’t take the joke well, leading to online backlash.
Khloé explained her concerns during the SHE MD podcast with Dr. Thais Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney. She said Tatum didn’t look like her or Tristan, raising questions about a potential mix-up at the surrogacy agency.
“I made Tristan take three DNA tests,” Khloé admitted. “He was so offended.”
She even joked, “My son looks just like Rob. I asked, ‘Rob, have you donated sperm anywhere?’” However, Khloé clarified it was a joke, calling the thought “disgusting.”
Despite reassurances from medical experts, Khloé said she needed more confirmation.
Family members, including her mother Kris Jenner, also noticed Tatum’s resemblance to Rob. Khloé called it “freaking weird.”
The revelation shocked fans online. One wrote, “I beg your pardon?” Another said, “This cannot be real.”
Khloé’s surrogacy journey came with other challenges. She learned Tristan had fathered a child with model Maralee Nichols shortly after their embryo transfer in 2021.
Despite the betrayal, Khloé described Tristan as a “nice guy” but ruled out reconciliation.
“I don’t think one betrayal hurts more than another. It’s all lies, manipulation, and deceit,” she said.
In a conversation with her sister Kim and Scott Disick, Khloé opened up about feeling “less connected” to Tatum compared to her daughter True, whom she gave birth to naturally in 2018.
Reflecting on surrogacy, Khloé said, “I felt guilty. The woman has my baby, I take the baby, and then we’re separated. It felt so transactional.”
Her honesty highlighted the emotional struggles of surrogacy.
