Just days after getting married, Jordan Graham felt overwhelmed with anxiety about being close to her new husband, Cody Johnson.
She texted a friend, saying she had a “total meltdown” and wasn’t sure about her marriage. While Jordan dreamed of her perfect wedding, she quietly wished it didn’t include Cody.
To others, their relationship seemed happy. But after their June 29, 2013, wedding, friends noticed that Jordan looked more and more upset.
A source close to her revealed she was scared of being intimate with Cody.
Eight days later, the couple went hiking near a cliff in Glacier National Park, Montana. Jordan returned from the hike alone. When Cody was reported missing, Jordan told police he had been out with friends.
But under questioning, Jordan admitted she had pushed Cody off a cliff, causing his death.
Jordan, born in 1991, grew up in Kalispell, Montana, near Glacier National Park. She was very religious and involved in her church, often saying she dreamed of getting married and raising a family.
She met Cody, a car enthusiast, on Halloween in 2011. Cody loved her deeply and quickly joined her church community. They got engaged in December 2012 and planned a unique wedding with a custom song.
However, on her wedding day, friends noticed that Jordan looked upset. She texted a friend afterward, saying she was unsure about her decision to marry Cody.
Cody Goes Missing
On July 8, 2013, Cody’s boss reported him missing. Jordan initially claimed he had gone out with friends. Later, she showed police an email from “Tony,” claiming Cody had fallen off a cliff.
When Jordan led police to the area, they found Cody’s body. Suspicious, investigators traced the email to Jordan’s computer.
Faced with evidence, Jordan confessed. She admitted she pushed Cody after an argument, saying she wasn’t happy in the marriage.
Jordan accepted a plea deal for second-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Friends were shocked by the tragedy, with one saying Cody would have done anything for her.
