Elliot Page has shared details about his relationship with “Juno” co-star Olivia Thirlby, describing their chemistry as “palpable.” In his 2023 memoir, “Pageboy,” Page opens up about their connection during the filming of the 2007 movie “Juno.”
Page recalls feeling an instant attraction to Thirlby, who played Juno’s best friend, Leah. “I was struck by Olivia the moment I saw her. She seemed mature, confident, and grounded,” he writes.
Thirlby’s openness drew Page in, creating a strong connection between them. “Her sexual openness was far from where I was, but our chemistry was undeniable,” Page explains. He recounts a moment when they kissed passionately in a hotel room, with Thirlby confessing she was “really attracted” to him. Page felt the same, noting, “It was on. She awakened a desire in me that was new and hopeful.”
Their relationship grew during the production, with frequent intimate moments. Page shares, “We were together in her hotel room, in our work trailers, and once in a small private room at a restaurant.”
The relationship helped Page overcome feelings of shame. “Being with Olivia made my shame fade. I didn’t see it in her eyes, and I wanted to stop feeling terrible about who I was,” he reflects.
During this time, both Page and Thirlby were cast in another film, “Jack & Diane,” but they left the project before it began. Thirlby came out as bisexual in 2011 and married Jacques Pienaar in 2014, later divorcing in 2021.
Page’s memoir also touches on a secret relationship with Kate Mara during the filming of “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Mara, who was dating Max Minghella at the time, was, according to Page, “in love with two people.”
These revelations offer insight into Page’s personal life, showcasing the relationships that have shaped his journey.
