Elena Maraga says her low teaching salary led her to explore OnlyFans—and she has no regrets about it.
The 29-year-old Catholic nursery school teacher lost her job after a parent discovered her online content. The news spread through WhatsApp and Facebook, leading the school to place her on leave. Officials said her side job did not align with the institution’s religious values.

Elena, however, was disappointed by the decision. She explained that her salary of €1,200 (about £1,000) per month was not enough to cover her expenses.
Her online presence has sparked a major debate in Italy.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Open, Elena said, “I was already considering other career options. I know people who earn well, and I wanted to see if it was possible. I’m proud of my progress and enjoy showing it.”
Elena had just started her OnlyFans account and quickly realized the financial benefits. In one day, she made what she would normally earn in a month as a teacher.

“I started it a month ago, partly out of curiosity and partly to test if it was a real opportunity. The results were immediate,” she said.
Elena insists she has done nothing wrong by sharing lingerie photos online.
On her profile, she states, “I don’t see anything wrong with embracing femininity and self-expression.”
Her case has received widespread attention, with many supporting her.
Trade unions have defended her, arguing that she did not break any rules. Alvise Sponza, general secretary of the Cgil Flc in Treviso, said, “There is no legal basis for firing her. The contract does not restrict employees from lawful activities in their free time.”
In response, the Ministry of Education has announced plans to review its 2023 guidelines for public employees. They may add new rules regarding social media use for teachers.
Elena, who holds a degree in Educational Sciences and has five years of experience, says her family supports her decision.

Some parents disapproved, but others have stood by her.
Although she once considered teaching her calling, Elena does not plan to return to the profession.
She is now training to become a personal trainer, believing the fitness industry offers more freedom and acceptance.
