Brazilian Influencers Tragically Drown After ‘Refusing Life Jackets’ To Avoid ‘Ruining Their Selfies’

Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, lost their lives in a tragic yacht accident. The two influencers drowned after their overcrowded boat sank near Devil’s Throat, a coastal area in Brazil.

Authorities confirmed the accident happened when the yacht capsized while returning from a party. The boat was reportedly overloaded, and many passengers were not wearing lifejackets. Some chose not to wear them because they felt the jackets interfered with their photos and tanning.

Sao Vincente police commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino explained that the skipper of the boat, who survived, had been instructed to transport six influencers, even though the boat’s capacity was only five. The skipper has been cooperating with the authorities, providing details of the incident.

The boat sank after being hit by a large wave on September 29. Beatriz’s body was found first, while Aline’s body washed up on Itaquitanduva Beach a week later. The police are investigating whether the incident was due to recklessness or negligence.

Aline, a mother who couldn’t swim, had taken her last social media photo on the boat. Survivors described the terrifying moments after the boat sank. Vanessa Audrey da Silva managed to survive by finding a lifejacket and clinging to rocks. She said, “There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for life.”

Another survivor, Camila Alves de Carvalho, shared her experience, saying she held onto a lifejacket and struggled against strong waves. “We didn’t know how to swim. I knew I couldn’t take it for long,” she said, recalling how she injured her foot and swallowed a lot of water.

This tragic event has left authorities and the community questioning how such an accident could have been prevented.
