Al Roker is looking forward to his first Christmas as a grandparent. He and his wife, Deborah Roberts, recently shared their holiday plans with their 6-month-old granddaughter, Sky Clara Laga, and her parents, Courtney Roker and Wesley Laga.
Roker, 69, said that having a new grandbaby makes this Christmas feel extra special. Deborah, 63, added that their family is spread out, so they want to make this holiday a close and meaningful celebration.
Roker’s daughter Courtney, 36, is from his first marriage to Alice Bell. He also has two children with Deborah—Leila, 25, and Nicholas Albert, 21.
This year’s holiday season feels different for Roker. Last Thanksgiving, he celebrated with Sky for the first time and even shared a family photo from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Talking about his granddaughter on the Today show, Roker said the experience was emotional and unforgettable. Holding Sky reminded him of the moment he held Courtney for the first time nearly 35 years ago.
This Christmas is especially meaningful because Roker had health struggles last year. In 2022, he posted a picture of his family wearing Peanuts-themed pajamas as they celebrated the holiday. Now, with his health improved, he feels grateful and excited for the time ahead.
As the holiday season approaches, Roker is focused on family, health, and making special memories with his loved ones.
