One morning, the boss arrives at the office, looking a bit distracted. His pants’ zipper is undone, but he hasn’t noticed it.
The secretary, who always tries to be polite and respectful, isn’t sure how to bring it up without embarrassing him. She decides to ask him a very indirect question. She walks up to him and says, “Boss, when you left home this morning, did you make sure to close the garage door?”
The boss looks at her, confused by the question. He doesn’t understand why she would bring it up, but he’s too busy to think much of it. He smiles, nods, and walks to his office.
As he settles in, starting his day’s work, he suddenly realizes something. He glances down and notices that his zipper is undone. He’s surprised but also a little embarrassed.
At that moment, he remembers the secretary’s strange question about the garage door. He gets an idea and decides to tease her a little. He calls her into his office and asks, “When you saw the garage door open this morning, did you also happen to notice my car parked out front?”
The secretary, clearly understanding what he’s getting at, smiles for a moment. She’s not one to be easily flustered, so she responds confidently.
“No, boss,” she says. “All I saw was a Mini with two flat tires.”
The boss, caught off guard by her response, bursts out laughing. He’s impressed by her quick wit and how she managed to handle the situation so smoothly.
From that moment on, he never forgot to check his zipper before leaving the house, and the secretary had a little laugh of her own every time she saw him walking into the office.
