Brave little girl wheeled down the aisle by dad to marry school sweetheart days before passing away

Any parent will tell you—there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for their child.

The moment you become a mother or father, everything changes. Your life revolves around keeping your child safe, happy, and loved. But no matter how much you try, some things are beyond your control.

Illness and accidents are a part of life, and sadly, some children face challenges they shouldn’t have to. That’s what happened to Alina and Aaron Edwards when they learned their nine-year-old daughter, Emma, had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

At first, they held onto hope, believing she could recover. But after a few months, doctors gave them devastating news—there was nothing more they could do.

Knowing their time with Emma was short, her parents wanted to make her last days special. Many children in her position might wish to meet a celebrity or visit Disneyland. But Emma’s wish was different.

She wanted to “marry” her best friend, DJ, a boy she had known since third grade.

Emma and DJ had even tried to have a wedding at school when they were eight, choosing bridesmaids and groomsmen from their classmates. Their teacher, however, didn’t allow it.

This time, with the support of their families and kind-hearted people in their community, Emma’s dream became a reality. Volunteers came together under the name “Emma’s Army” to help organize the special event.

“We planned it in just two days, and everything was donated,” said Emma’s mother, Alina. “It was so precious.”

On June 29, Emma arrived at the venue in a wheelchair pushed by her parents. She wore a beautiful purple dress and smiled as her father walked her down the aisle.

She and DJ exchanged rings and vows, with DJ sealing the ceremony with a kiss.

After the wedding, Emma returned to rest, but the joy on her face showed how much the moment meant to her.

Just a few weeks later, on July 11, 2023, Emma passed away.

Her obituary described her as a girl full of strength, love, and laughter. She was loved by many and will always be remembered.
