Brian Laundrie’s parents break silence following release of Netflix documentary about Gabby Petito’s death

The parents of Brian Laundrie, who was responsible for the death of Gabby Petito in 2021, have spoken out after a Netflix documentary about the case was released.

What Happened With Gabby Petito And Brian Laundrie?

Gabby and Brian set out on a road trip across the U.S. in July 2021 in a converted van. However, the trip ended in tragedy just weeks later.

Gabby, an aspiring travel vlogger, went missing, leading to a major investigation. It was later discovered that Brian was responsible for her death.

On February 17, Netflix released American Murder: Gabby Petito, a three-part documentary covering her final days.

The documentary includes unseen messages, diary entries, and footage from loved ones. It also highlights Brian’s actions after Gabby’s disappearance, including sending fake messages between their phones and transferring money with a goodbye note.

It also focuses on Brian’s parents, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie. Phone records show that after Gabby disappeared, Brian made multiple calls to them, including a long conversation with his mother. His father also contacted an attorney at that time.

When Gabby’s parents reported her missing, they found out Brian had returned home without her. Soon after, Brian vanished and was later found dead. A suicide note confirmed he had taken Gabby’s life.

Now, Brian’s parents have responded to the Netflix series.

Their attorney, Steven Bertolino, spoke to The US Sun and claimed the documentary had many inaccuracies. He compared it to different political views, saying each side sees things in their own way.

He added that the documentary contained errors and misleading details that may have been intentional or accidental. However, he confirmed, “We all know Brian took Gabby’s life, and then his own.”

Bertolino also urged people to let both families mourn in peace.

Gabby and Brian started dating in 2019 after meeting in New York. They later moved to Florida, and Brian proposed a year later.

During their trip, the couple encountered police in Utah on August 12 after a domestic dispute was reported. The last known footage of Gabby alive was recorded on August 27 at a Whole Foods store in Wyoming.

The next day, Brian hiked from their campsite to another location and made calls to his parents before heading home.

Gabby’s body was found on October 20 at the campsite. The autopsy showed she died from blunt-force injuries and strangulation.

Gabby’s mother, Nichole, told NewsNation that she has forgiven Brian, believing it’s what Gabby would have wanted. However, she admitted she still has issues with Brian’s parents and prefers not to mention their names.
