Pregnancy and labor can be one of the scariest times for a mom, and all she wants is to deliver a healthy baby. But one mom faced an unimaginable situation when her baby boy was born with serious health issues and had to be placed on a ventilator.

Lisa Hough, a mother of three and grandmother of two, shared a photo of her newborn grandson, Karson, born to her daughter Chelsea. She also explained the difficult situation her daughter had to face. Karson was born with severe medical complications.
According to Lisa, Karson had suffered from two rare conditions: a hemorrhage in his left temporal lobe and a rare genetic disorder called Non-ketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH). Lisa described the situation as severe and said the doctors told them Karson would likely be neurologically impaired and function at a 2-3 month old level for his whole life.
Chelsea, facing this heartbreaking information, had to make the tough decision to take Karson off life support. Lisa shared the painful moment they had to say goodbye. They were given just 10 minutes after removing the ventilator, and they were told to expect his heart to stop within that time.
But something incredible happened. Lisa explained, “God had other plans,” and Karson started breathing on his own. His heart rate and oxygen levels stabilized. In the following hours, they witnessed a miracle. Karson was breathing, swallowing, and even opened his eyes a couple of times.
The doctors had no explanation for his recovery, saying there is no medical evidence to support it. Lisa called it a miracle, saying, “We have him now, and we will take every moment we can with him.”
On March 1, the family received the joyful news that Karson would be going home. Lisa expressed her deep gratitude, saying, “Every day, I am reminded that God isn’t done with us.”
Karson’s story has inspired thousands, with over 30,000 reactions to Lisa’s posts celebrating Karson’s survival and progress.
