A husband is reportedly seeking a divorce after his influencer wife was filmed kissing a US singer during a live performance. Miriam Cruz, an influencer with around 140,000 TikTok followers, joined Aventura, a bachata band, on stage during a performance in the Dominican Republic on December 28.
In the footage, Cruz greets the band members and hugs Romeo Santos, the frontman, before kissing him after being invited to sing with the group. While the band performed their song La Guerra, Cruz sat beside Santos with her hand on his lap.
After the show, Cruz shared a now-deleted post on social media where she admitted that the kiss led to the breakdown of her 10-year marriage. “I have to acknowledge that this achievement came at a very high cost: the breakup of my 10-year marriage,” Cruz reportedly said.
She explained that the kiss happened because she was “carried away by nerves and emotion” without considering how it might affect her family. Despite the divorce, Cruz said she was happy about the “long-awaited dream” of being on stage with Santos, someone she had admired for years.
Cruz said she respected her ex-husband’s decision to divorce her, though she felt deep sadness. “From the bottom of my heart, I am very sorry. It was never my intention to hurt you,” she wrote. She also expressed hope that they could remain peaceful and united for their children’s sake.
On her TikTok account, Cruz frequently posted videos of herself with her husband and children. She also shared clips of herself on stage with Aventura, writing, “I’ve been a fan forever.” Most of her followers showed sympathy for her, calling her ex-partner “insecure,” and saying they would have acted the same way on stage with Aventura.
Aventura, formed in the Bronx, New York, is a prominent bachata group. They had been on a reunion tour that ended on January 5.
