A mom went viral after calling out her son’s stepdad and stepmom over a Christmas photo. She has since explained the situation and set the record straight.
Taylor, a nursing student, shared her side of the story on TikTok after her five-year-old son Trü’s photo with his dad, stepmom, and step-siblings went viral. In the picture, the family wore matching green pajamas, while TrĂĽ had on black pajamas that read “Christmas Crew.”
Taylor explained in the video that she and her ex have a set schedule for when Trü stays with him, which is every other weekend. On December 19, Taylor’s ex asked to keep Trü for an extra weekend, which she agreed to. However, he never mentioned taking a family Christmas photo on December 21. It wasn’t until Christmas Day that Taylor received the photos.
When she saw them, Taylor noticed that Trü wasn’t wearing the same pajamas as everyone else. She learned that the pajamas Trü was supposed to wear were out of stock. Still, she felt it was wrong for her son to be left out of the matching set. Taylor said she expressed her concerns to her ex, but he didn’t respond.
After posting her thoughts on Facebook, where she received many comments, she shared the pictures, making sure to block out the other kids. Taylor explained that Trü’s pajamas were meant for sleeping, not for photos. She felt his dad should have found matching pajamas for him.
Taylor also clarified that she wasn’t blaming the stepmom. Riya Lee, the stepmom, responded on social media, saying she had no idea Trü would be in the photo and that she would never leave him out. Taylor agreed but insisted that her issue was with her ex, not Riya.
After the incident, Taylor made sure TrĂĽ had a good Christmas by giving him matching pajamas and spending quality time together. Taylor said her son felt “not good” about not matching, but she made sure he had fun during the holidays.
