Pauline Potter, once named the World’s Heaviest Woman by Guinness World Records, has undergone a remarkable transformation, losing nearly 40 stone. Her journey was featured on My 600lb Life.
At her heaviest, Pauline weighed 50 stone (700 lbs) and depended on a motorized scooter for movement. Her weight gain started after her husband showed an attraction to larger women. However, things changed when she was officially recognized as the World’s Heaviest Living Woman in 2012.
“I thought reaching out to Guinness World Records might help me get assistance,” Pauline said, but she was shocked when she received the recognition.
Pauline used to embrace her size, but it soon became overwhelming. Simple tasks like standing up became difficult. “I used to love being big, but it went too far,” she shared. “Someone has to pull my head while I rock into a standing position.” Daily hygiene was also challenging. She explained, “I use a walk-in bath with a flexible showerhead. Keeping clean is hard because of the folds of flesh, which can get infected. My son helps with areas I can’t reach.”
Her turning point came when she appeared on My 600lb Life. With guidance from Dr. Nowzaradan, she began a strict weight loss program and lost over 35 stone (500 lbs).
Dr. Now celebrated her success, saying, “I’m proud of Pauline’s commitment and progress. Weight loss surgery is not a quick fix but a tool to help achieve goals.” He highlighted the importance of making lifestyle changes and believing in oneself to succeed.
Pauline’s supporters filled social media with praise. One fan wrote, “Pauline, you’re amazing. So proud of you!” Another said, “She’s come such a long way.”
Pauline’s journey serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and determination needed to make significant life changes.
