A mom of two has shared her unique ‘Christmas present wrapping weekend’ tradition, where she books a hotel for two nights to wrap gifts in peace and relax.
The U.S.-based TikToker, known as @McKelligan, posted a video showing her creative tradition. She captioned it: “Second annual wrapping weekend! Booked a hotel for two nights, wrapped all gifts, ordered takeout, watched TV, and no one asked me for anything.”
Many parents loved the idea and called it brilliant. One follower commented: “You win momming!! Stealing this for the future.”
The video, set to Sia’s Candy Cane Lane, showed McKelligan arriving at the hotel with a load of presents. She dressed in festive pajamas, grabbed a Starbucks, and got started.
She worked at a table in her hotel room, wrapping gifts while watching TV. After finishing, she admired her work and treated herself to a beer and chips while relaxing on the bed.
The final shot showed the neatly wrapped presents, ready to go back to her home.
The video, with over 2.8 million views, received plenty of praise. One viewer said: “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen! You’re a genius.” McKelligan responded: “Why isn’t this already a thing?”
Another commenter joked: “So we’re not hiding in our freezing garages, wrapping gifts at 1 a.m. anymore? Noted.” McKelligan agreed, saying: “Right!?!”
Some followers suggested making it a group activity, like renting an Airbnb for moms to wrap and relax together. McKelligan replied: “You’re onto something!”
Not everyone was convinced, though. One person said: “Oh, we’re in a different tax bracket.” Another added: “I’d find 17 more hidden presents at home and stress out again.”
Others suggested variations, like wrapping at home on one day and spending the next relaxing at a hotel. One joked: “Can I do this monthly for educational purposes?” McKelligan agreed: “Good thinking!”
Her tradition sparked a mix of admiration, laughs, and fresh ideas from viewers.
