The debate over whether women should be allowed to breastfeed in public has been ongoing for years. Recently, a young mother added her voice to the conversation, causing a stir in the process. Here’s her story.
Anyone who has breastfed knows that babies don’t care where they are or what time it is when they’re hungry. While some mothers may feel uneasy about breastfeeding in public, this mother, Trinati, feels differently. She is determined to make a point in favor of breastfeeding wherever she is.
Trinati breastfeeds her 17-month-old daughter, and she makes sure to do it no matter where they are, even if it means breastfeeding in public. While she is not shy about it, this often leads to uncomfortable situations, with some people giving her strange looks. She’s even been asked by store employees to breastfeed in broom closets, thinking it would be more comfortable. But Trinati quickly realized that broom closets aren’t ideal for feeding a baby, so she decided to take action.

One day, while at Costco, she had her son take a photo of her breastfeeding her daughter. Trinati shared the photo in an interview, saying, “I never shy away from providing my children with what they need based on our surroundings.”
She has also received questions from friends and family, asking, “How long are you going to do that?” Her response is always, “As long as she needs me to.” These questions are often followed by jokes, suggesting that she might be breastfeeding her daughter until she’s in kindergarten.
Trinati is frustrated by the way breastfeeding is sometimes sexualized or judged. In an interview, she pointed out, “Have you seen breastfeeding breasts? My nipples are very far from looking like something anyone would fantasize about!”
She wants to raise awareness about breastfeeding as a nurturing act and not something sexual. Trinati’s message is clear: breastfeeding should be normalized, and she will continue to do it, no matter where she is.
