Dick Van Dyke, the lively and charming nonagenarian, has added another achievement to his impressive career: he’s now a music video star. At 98, Van Dyke appears in Coldplay’s latest music video for their song “All My Love.”

The video, filmed at his Malibu, California home, shows Van Dyke dancing barefoot in his backyard. Known for his roles in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966) and Mary Poppins, he once again showcases his signature dance moves while Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, plays the piano. Directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore, the video was filmed in October and released in a director’s cut on Friday. A shorter version will debut on December 13, coinciding with Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.
In the video, Van Dyke is introduced with a title card noting his birth year, 1925. He humorously comments on his age, joking about being asked to think of loved ones and claiming he’d fall asleep instead. With a playful chuckle, he adds, “I’ll take a nap!”

Chris Martin shared that he and Jonze decided to cast Van Dyke after meeting him years ago as neighbors. He described the experience as “the most fun thing I’ve ever done,” adding that it was a memorable project for him.
The video includes flashes of Van Dyke’s family and career, showing pictures of his time with The Dick Van Dyke Show co-star Mary Tyler Moore and Mary Poppins memorabilia. Throughout the video, Van Dyke dances, showing his old comic style, dressed in a suit and tie but without shoes.
At times, Van Dyke reflects on aging, family, and love, saying, “I’m acutely aware that I’m, you know, could go any day now but I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me.” He feels grateful for having spent his life in entertainment, “playing and acting silly.”
