A Ukrainian model, found in critical condition by a roadside in Dubai on March 19, may have fallen from a height at a construction site, according to authorities.
Maria Kovalchuk, 20, had traveled to Dubai for a vacation, but her trip took a tragic turn. She had been missing for over a week after telling her family and friends that she was invited to a hotel party on March 9 by two men claiming to work in the modeling industry.
When she was found, Maria had no phone or identification with her. She was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent multiple life-saving procedures.
Dubai police confirmed that Maria had been reported missing and was now receiving medical care with her family by her side. Officials stated that she entered a restricted construction area alone and fell, leading to severe injuries, including a fractured spine and broken limbs. She is now unable to move, except for slight movement of her lips.
While authorities believe this was an accident, Maria’s family suspects there may be more to the story. They fear she was in danger and tried to escape.
