Reports say that two teenage girls also lost their lives after trying the same challenge. Now, Tommie’s family wants to make sure no other child makes the same mistake.

Tommie was at a friend’s house for a sleepover when the boys came across the trend on TikTok. The challenge involved inhaling harmful gases or chemicals to get a quick high. Common household items like spray deodorant, dry shampoo, or glue were used for this risky activity.

Tommie and his friend tried the challenge, but his heart stopped immediately. Medical staff confirmed that he died on the spot. His family is now mourning his tragic loss.

His mother, Sherry, is urging parents to talk to their children about these dangers. She believes more parents need to be aware of what their kids are seeing online. She shared a strong message on Facebook.

“This cost my son his life from trying something other kids are doing,” she wrote. “Please talk to your children about the consequences. I don’t understand why anyone would try this. It’s so dangerous!”

She also expressed her deep sorrow, saying, “I have never felt pain like this. My baby boy. You will forever be in my heart.”

Sherry is now focused on raising awareness so that no other family has to experience this kind of tragedy. She hopes that by sharing Tommie’s story, other children’s lives can be saved.
