At 66 years old, Maria shocked everyone when she announced she was pregnant with twins. Her family was stunned, as having children at her age was unexpected.
In 2006, she set a world record by giving birth to twins, Christian and Pau, at 66 years and 358 days old. To afford the IVF treatments, Maria sold her house. She also lied about her age, claiming to be 55, so doctors at a California fertility clinic would approve the procedure.
